ICAT worked with the government of Peru to enhance technical capacities for the development of the national greenhouse gas inventory within the framework of INFOCARBONO, the national institutional arrangement for inventory preparation. Additionally, efforts were made to contribute to the design of the Finance Registry. The work included capacity strengthening for national greenhouse gas inventory development and MRV of finance. A second project, currently under implementation, aims to strengthen capacities for effectively tracking progress in implementing Peru’s NDC mitigation targets and conducting greenhouse gas emission projections.
Strengthen national capacities to enable Peru to effectively track progress in implementing its mitigation targets, as outlined in its NDCs. More specifically, the project aims to generate information to meet the requirements of the MPGs for national greenhouse gas inventories and to develop mitigation scenarios and abatement curves using the GACMO tool.
Generate information to fulfill the requirements of the MPGs for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories.
Provide technical assistance to the ministries that are part of INFOCARBONO to strengthen the data collection and calculation processes of the National GHG Inventory (INGEI) for 2000–2023.
Support for the preparation of the Annual Greenhouse Gas Emissions Report (RAGEI) for the Waste sector.
Develop mitigation scenarios and abatement curves using the GACMO tool.
Deliverables will be made available here as the project progresses.
Project highlights will be displayed here as the project implementation progresses.
