ICAT support focuses on the establishment of institutional arrangements, including design and implementation of legal frameworks, data collection, reporting and verification methodologies and procedures within and between the relevant stakeholders that will facilitate a robust and continuous national MRV framework for the oil & gas sectors, road Transport and LULUCF, and to assess the impact of policy and measures in the energy sector. Simultaneously, ICAT is supporting Nigeria in establishing a Just Transition M&E framework.

  • MRV frameworks MRV frameworks
  • Policy assessment Policy assessment
Status: complete
Start date: September, 2020
End date: March, 2022

Capacity to develop and apply a sectoral MRV system to measure the performance of the targeted climate policies and actions defined for three sectors (Oil & Gas, Transport and AFOLU) and to integrate sector MRV systems into an overarching MRV system under the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) of the Paris Agreement.
  2. Successful application of good practice and tools that integrate transparency on climate policies and action with evidence-based policymaking, assessing the impacts (in term of GHG emissions, and co-benefits on SLCFs emissions) of policies and measures.
