ICAT is supporting Samoa to manage and track the implementation of its NDC mitigation and adaptation actions. Through the ICAT project, Samoa is developing a framework to collect and manage data on emissions, policy impacts, and progress on achieving its NDC goals.

Objectives

Enable Samoa to manage and track the implementation of its NDC mitigation and adaptation actions by putting in place a framework for regular collection and management of the necessary data, including those needed to project GHG emissions/removals, assess the impact of relevant policies and measures, and develop appropriate indicators for reporting on progress achieved.

Start date: April, 2024
  • Gaps and need assessment of climate change reporting requirements at international and national level
  • Impact assessment of selected policies and actions for tracking progress of NDC implementation with the GACMO tool
  • GHG impact assessment of selected mitigation policies/actions in the energy sector are performed including the design of a monitoring plan
  • Report on policy scenario for sustainable development /transformational change impacts
  • Establishment of an NDC tracking framework for adaptation actions in a selected subsector (Marine [Coastal region] and AFOLU)
