Webinar: Transparency for Article 6 of the Paris Agreement

21 August 2023
ICAT is hosting a webinar on 20 September 2023, 11:00-12:30 CEST on the topic of Article 6 and transparency. Article 6 of the Paris Agreement regulates the approaches for voluntary cooperation between countries to achieve the targets set out in their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). It has strong interlinkages with other elements of the Paris Agreement; in particular Article 13, which defines the contours of the enhanced transparency framework. As Parties to the Paris Agreement, countries are obliged to report on any related activities, including those undertaken under Article 6. Transparency and accountability are therefore key elements in successfully implementing Article 6, ensuring environmental integrity and the early detection of major risks to national and global climate action objectives. In addition, the data needed for good planning of NDC implementation and for NDC tracking will also be important when a country plans for its Article 6 engagement, as an integral part of its NDC implementation strategy. This webinar will explore the relationship between transparency and Article 6 activities, including perspectives from country representatives and international experts.
