La Iniciativa para la Transparencia de la Acción Climática (ICAT) y su socio técnico nacional Tepual Conservación llevarán a cabo un webinar donde presentarán la experiencia de Chile durante el proceso de fortalecimiento del enfoque de integración en instrumentos de gestión del cambio climático. El foco estará en su experiencia con el reporte de medidas con beneficios conjuntos de mitigación y adaptación en el primer Informe Bienal de Transparencia (IBT).

El webinar busca generar un espacio de encuentro entre países para compartir experiencias y buenas prácticas, mostrando los ejemplos de Chile y Kenia. Y, de esta manera, apoyar el desarrollo de capacidades para la elaboración y reporte de este tipo de acciones en sus propios IBT, en el marco del Acuerdo de París.

Antecedentes

Chile tiene el compromiso de enfrentar de manera integral tanto las causas como los efectos e impactos del cambio climático. Por ello, el Ministerio del Medio Ambiente (MMA) del país, con apoyo de ICAT, implementó un proyecto ICAT ejecutado por el socio técnico nacional Tepual Conservación, para fortalecer la integración de acciones climáticas con beneficios conjuntos de mitigación y adaptación en sus compromisos nacionales, lo que incluyó el desarrollo de un marco conceptual, metodologías e indicadores para evaluar dichas acciones, así como el apoyo técnico para la elaboración de su primer IBT y la mejora del siguiente.

Audiencia y Colaboración Internacional

El webinar está dirigido principalmente a personas y equipos técnicos que están involucrados en los procesos de seguimiento, reporte y actualización de las Contribuciones Determinadas a Nivel Nacional. Se espera la asistencia de actores gubernamentales, expertos y organizaciones relacionadas con la transparencia climática.

Webinar: Chile’s lessons learned on climate transparency and the inclusion of measures with mitigation and adaptation co-benefits

The Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT) and its national technical partner, Tepual Conservation, are hosting a webinar to present Chile’s experience in strengthening its integrated approach to climate change management instruments. The focus will be on their experience with the reporting of mitigation and adaptation co-benefit measures in the first Biennial Transparency Report (BTR).

The webinar will provide a space for countries to share experiences and best practices, showcasing examples from Chile and Kenya. In this way, it will support capacity building for the elaboration and reporting of this type of action within their BTRs under the Paris Agreement.

Background

Chile has committed to comprehensive climate change mitigation and adaptation action. In this context, Chile’s Ministry of Environment, with support from ICAT and technical experts from Tepual Conservation, implemented a project to strengthen the integration of climate actions with mitigation and adaptation co-benefits in its national commitments, which included the development of a conceptual framework, methodologies and indicators to evaluate such actions, as well as technical support for the elaboration of its first BTR and the improvement of the next one.

Targeted audience and international collaboration

The webinar is primarily intended for individuals and technical teams involved in the processes of monitoring, reporting and updating of Nationally Determined Contributions. Governmental actors, experts and organizations related to climate transparency are invited to attend.
