ICAT Country Experiences with the Development of Enhanced Transparency Frameworks

This official COP24 side event will feature country representatives and technical experts to provide an overview of ICAT. In addition, a range of countries participating in ICAT will share their experiences in applying ICAT methodologies, and developing and using enhanced transparency frameworks to raise the effectiveness of their climate policies. Improving governance frameworks for climate transparency and unlocking ambition across all levels

WRI staff will be presenting the ICAT Non-State and Subnational Action Methodology at this NDC Partnership event on “Improving governance frameworks for climate transparency and unlocking ambition across all levels”.

Thursday, 6 December 2018, 13:00-14:30 (PCCB Hub – RYSY Meeting Room 24 – Area E):

Reflections on EU capacity building support to the first round of NDCs. What lessons can be used in preparations of the next NDC round?

Henning Wuester, Director of ICAT, will speak at a Paris Committee on Capacity Building (PCCB) Hub event that aims at reflecting on European Union, including Member State-led, capacity-building activities that were carried out in the pre-Paris Agreement period and were aimed at supporting the formulation of INDCs. The primary purpose will be to assess and summarise the relevant lessons learned so future capacity-building activities supporting the NDC updating could be better informed and improved by these experiences.

Tuesday, 11 December 2018, 13:15-14:45 (Narew):

Enhancing the preparedness of developing countries to implement the Enhanced Transparency Framework

ICAT implementing partner, UNEP-DTU, will participate in this side event which focuses on the provision of support (financial, technical, and capacity-building) to developing countries for the existing MRV arrangements under the Convention and the transparency framework under the Paris Agreement.
