Webinar: Strengthening Transparency in National Climate Commitments – Lessons from Brazil’s Plano Clima

18 June 2026

How does transparency enable effective climate commitment implementation?

This question will be at the centre of a virtual dialogue on 25 June 2026, organized as a partnership between the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT), Centro Brasil no Clima (CBC), Brazil’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Brazil,, the UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre (UNEP-CCC) and the World Resources Institute (WRI).

The virtual event will discuss Brazil’s experience developing Plano Clima – its national climate plan for Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) implementation and transition to a low-carbon economy.

It will demonstrate how the principles of transparency and just transition have been embedded into Plano Clima, with particular focus on the contributions of ICAT-supported work across sectoral planning, measurement, reporting, and verification framework development, and socio-economic monitoring.

The session will cover three key themes:

  • Enhancing NDCs through sectoral targets
  • Monitoring and tracking NDC implementation
  • Integrating just transition into national climate planning

The event is open to all interested parties, including national stakeholders, transparency focal points, ICAT network members, and international organizations.

When: 25 June 2026, 10:00 BRT / 15:00 CEST
