ICAT has published a new edition of the ICAT Spotlight, a quarterly newsletter that puts – as the name suggests – a spotlight on a particular aspect of transparency. It includes a feature story and spotlights recent developments in country projects, new resources in the ICAT toolbox and relevant events.

In this edition, the focus is on climate finance. Climate finance transparency, understood as the reliable measurement, accessible reporting, and expert review of information related to financial resources allocated for climate action, is key for countries to efficiently manage financial resources to mitigate and adapt to climate change. ICAT’s step-by-step Climate Finance Transparency Guide helps to lead countries through the process of developing and implementing a climate finance transparency framework.

This Spotlight also features a summary of ICAT’s activities at COP29. As 2024 is the year when the first biennial transparency reports are due, it was a moment to celebrate progress and demonstrate how transparency can help put the Paris Agreement on track to meeting its objectives.

Additionally, highlights from ICAT’s country projects are featured: Kenya has enhanced capacity for greenhouse gas reporting in crop production, and Brazil has initiated work to set up a just transition monitoring framework. 

Finally, save the dates for the upcoming ICAT Partner Forum! ICAT’s annual all-partner knowledge sharing event is taking place in a virtual format on 25-27 March 2025.
