Sunday, 3 December | 16:45—18:15 | Side-Event Room 1 & livestreaming
Co-hosted with: Kazakhstan, CAREC
Climate change’s growing impact compels nations, including Central Asia’s five states, to act decisively. These countries have updated their nationally determined contributions (NDCs) supported by policies to enhance climate resilience and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Their effectiveness depends on full implementation, which requires robust measurement and evaluation frameworks. Transparency in NDC tracking, the development of innovative methodologies, tailored training programmes, and data-driven initiatives were identified as essential elements for successful climate action.
The event will showcase the steadfast commitment of Central Asian countries to climate action, emphasizing the crucial role of enhanced transparency measures in achieving their NDCs. Speakers will include high-level government officials from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan; national experts from ICAT’s hub in Central Asia, hosted by CAREC; and representatives of the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute, ICAT and the UNFCCC Secretariat.
