ICAT is supporting Mauritius to improve its ability to track progress on its climate goals. The project will help Mauritius develop a system for monitoring its climate policies and assessing their impact, while also exploring opportunities to participate in international carbon markets under the Paris Agreement.
The project will support the implementation of the Mauritius NDC, through enhanced transparency capacities and operationalization of the national framework to assess and track the impacts of climate policies and measures, and support needed and received, towards the achievement of NDC targets, while demystifying and assessing opportunities for participating in Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
Output 1: Implications of participating in Article 6 activities for the fulfillment of NDC targets and potential for attracting finance for further implementation and enhanced ambition are clearly understood, and gaps for participation in Article 6 identified
Output 2: Revised and improved structure for tracking NDC targets and contributing policies and measures
Output 3: Improved data for tracking implementation of NDC contributing policies and measures (mitigation and adaptation), and support provided, needed and received, integrated in the national MauNDC Registry
Output 4: Improved data for tracking GHG impacts of NDC contributing policies and measures integrated in the national MauNDC Registry
Output 5: The ex-ante and ex-post impacts of selected policies and measures are assessed through the application of ICAT methodologies, and capacities for impact assessment and reporting are enhanced
