The Guide is the first of its kind—a comprehensive resource to support countries in tracking and ensuring that the shift toward a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy is fair, inclusive, and equitable. We trust this Guide becomes a valued part of your climate action toolkit—one you’ll return to frequently as you shape and strengthen your country’s just transition framework or strategy.

In this issue, we also feature an insightful commentary on the importance of embedding fairness, inclusivity, and transparency into the just transition process. As we approach the third round of nationally determined contributions (NDC 3.0), this timely piece makes a compelling case for integrating just transition principles into national climate action plans, ensuring that no one is left behind in the pursuit of a sustainable future.

We also take a closer look at ICAT-supported just transition monitoring projects in South Africa, Brazil, and Nigeria. These initiatives offer valuable lessons and practical examples for other countries embarking on their specific just transition journeys. The article is both thoughtful and grounded, demonstrating that meaningful progress is not only possible but already underway.

Additionally, we highlight insights from a Just Transition Monitoring Workshop held earlier this year in the vibrant city of Cape Town, South Africa.
