Join us at the upcoming Bonn Climate Change Conference (SB 58)!
SB 58 will be held from 5 to 15 June 2023 at the World Conference Center Bonn (WCCB) and will give us the opportunity to highlight the crucial role of transparency for climate change, exchange experiences, prepare and build momentum for the upcoming COP28.
ICAT is hosting or contributing to a number of events and activities at SB58 aimed at supporting transparency efforts.

Fiji/UNOPS/GHGMI Side event: Transparency for effective climate policies in agriculture

Focusing on lessons learned from several countries and new methodological support available, the event will explore how transparency for mitigation and adaptation in the agriculture sector can support countries to meet their climate targets, while ensuring sustainable development and food security.
Speakers will include government representatives and national experts from Fiji, Kenya, Vietnam (tbc) and the Dominican Republic (tbc). To complement these country perspectives, counterparts from GHGMI, FAO and ICAT will present methodological support available to countries for transparency of climate action in the agricultural sector.
This event is organized under the banner of the #Together4Transparency campaign.

Meeting of the ICAT Central Africa Hub countries (by invitation only)
Date: Monday 12 June

A meeting with representatives of each of the 11 countries participating in ICAT’s Hub in Central Africa, as well as representatives of the hub’s management team and the ICAT Secretariat will be organized on the margins of the SB58. The meeting will provide an opportunity for in-person coordination, exchange of experiences and planning for the activities to be carried out by the Hub in the coming period.
UNEP-CCC event: Launch of knowledge platform on transparency

The new CBIT-GSP Climate Transparency Platform will be launched as a knowledge sharing platform. ICAT, along with other support providers and stakeholders will be contributing to the platform on a regular basis, with knowledge products, news and opportunities for transparency practitioners and other interested individuals.

ICAT Partner Reception (by invitation only)
ICAT will hold a Partner Reception during the upcoming as a social event for the ICAT Community. The reception will serve as an opportunity to celebrate our achievements, connect and discuss what’s coming up ahead in our ongoing efforts to strengthen climate transparency across the world. ICAT’s new guides for adaptation, loss and damage and Article 6 will be announced.
UN Open House 2023

UNOPS and ICAT is taking part in the 2023 UN Open House event, which will welcome representatives from Consulates located in the Bonn and Frankfurt areas to attend, listen, and learn about the activities and initiatives of more than 20 UN agencies and organizations in Bonn.
Bilateral meetings with ICAT countries, transparency networks and partners
Across the two weeks of the SB 58, the ICAT Secretariat will meet with representatives of its partner countries in person to discuss the progress of ongoing ICAT country projects, potential activities for new projects, as well as to flag potential problems, risks and bottlenecks and think of their respective solutions.
In addition, ICAT will participate in the 13th Group Meeting of the ETF Group of Friends (formerly MRV/Transparency Group of Friends), organized by the UNFCCC secretariat with the objective of enhancing collaboration and synergies amongst the members to better support developing countries. ICAT will also attend other events and meetings with its partners, such as the PATPA Partnership Meeting.
